The Victoria Real Estate Board Statistics for January 2011

Out with the old and in with the new. The new year is here and in the world of real estate....nothing changed. There were 10 fewer sales this month than last, a total of 339 properties changed hands for this first month of 2011.

The number of properties for sale (3283) didn't change too dramatically either, only a small increase of  31 more properties listed.

You may see doom and gloom headlines declaring "Victoria Market Plummets" or the like, but although the average price for a single-family home fell approximately $40,000 from last month, the 6-month average has remained relatively stable. One must remember that, especially in months of relatively few sales, a handful of million-dollar sales can greatly skew the average, and it's wise to watch the trends over a longer period of time.
